hello world :)

uneventful week. as expected. *gasp* exams week after hols!
econs: 30 jun 09, 1430-1530. topics 1-6(minus cost graphs)

well today went to watch 'night at the museum 2'. very funny, except the ending left many questions unanswered, like (spoilers ahead) how the smithsonian, after being horrendously wracked, was patched up, and what happened to amelia earhart after her take-off without the stone (crash, burn?). more on graeme's blog soon.

kudos justin. at last nearly the whole class showed up.

now to touch up my onow essay.

damn, today is scorching.

had kayaking elective today. second lesson. met sean (who had dengue not 3 days ago-he's recovered quite well) and deyun at clementi. headed off to poly marina (yes, sp has its own marina) to find that graeme had been watching blackadder prior to our arrival (and yes, graeme, thanks to me, is officially hooked onto a 20-year-old british comedy series).

after some checks and new lessons, we headed out into the marina. we inadvertently took the streamlined kayak, which was faster, but far less stable. you get the rest.

a couple of 'tutorials' later, graeme suddenly took a turn for the 'worse'-he was seasick. and at my arms' expense, i dragged and rowed and hauled myself, graeme and the kayak back to shore. after that we took a dip in the (not-so-sanitary) marina and cooled off.

thereafter we headed back only to turn around to shore as we were finished for the day (damn). had the usual injury-fibreglass cuts on my arms and legs. those lil' crystals embedded in your skin isn't much fun.

sean left first-he was off the malaysia for some golf (damn) while graeme went to the yacht club for lunch (dammmnn), but not before accompanying me and deyun to the busstop. from there it was clementi-tampines-lunch-home sweet home.\

had bowling today. and this time my scoring improved. tremendously.

WITH REGARDS TO THE IMMINENCE OF THE SWINE INFLUENZA:

to the persons who just happen to be on this blog, please allow yourself to read the following statements. who knows, it may mean your life. my 2 cents' worth on this issue...

1. if you haven't known, WHO has raised the alert level to 5 (pandemic probable) on monday, meaning the virus has adapted to the point where it can freely spread human-to-human, and with the prevalence of air travel, the influenza has presented itself on most continents, the lastest being asia (hong kong).
2. MOH in singapore has raised its alert level to orange in lieu of WHO's decision. temperature-taking in educational institutions are now a requirement, reminiscent of the sars epidemic of 03.
3. signages at shopping malls and other public buildings have advised that persons who have gone to affected countries and present symptoms of flu (eg. fever, respiratory issues) are to STAY HOME (ie QUARANTINE), a critical part of the entire prevention process.
4. should the symptoms not abate, or get worse, there's a dedicated emergency line (s'pore only) activated only yesterday, 993, which will give you priority at a&e and provide you with necessary tests and, if required, treatment.
5. refrain from travelling to affected countries, or travelling at all, to minimise, as far as possible, the risk of the virus spreading.
6. stock up on supplies and medication as soon as the need arises, for once the infection goes into full swing, supplies could be hard to get by, added to the fact that going outdoors may almost be completely improbable.

the world has to prepare for a long, protracted war with the influenza, and chances are it will cost lives. but how many are dependant on how people react to it. knowledge is the best weapon, and it, along with the nessesary actions, can eventually defeat it.

my lecture theatre. xiang feng and jac in the foreground.

there have been TWO events that only serve to reinforce my views on TWO facts:

1) singapore poly's facilities are just AWESOME!
2) the evening rush-hour is just terrible.

why, you may ask?

here are the reasons:
1) just today me and (most of) my class went to spgg (grad's guild) to play bowling. pretty empty then, and we had 4 hours between econs lecture and acccounts lecture...so we played 3 games...all for $6!!! there were many, err, bloopers throughout, like 'long kang man' living up to his name, and that 'sky can punch all the pins to the ground'. LOL. my results are none of your business, not to say they were good anyways...=x

after that (we still had a free hour) we went to the arcade in spgg (!?!) to add to the fun $1 gives you 3 daytona races OR 9 lives in time crisis (which sky is GOD-LIKE in). so if we wanted to cool off, we could go there-everything is like less than half price-all we needed was the admissions card! =D

2) oh well, when you're released 6, what's expected is what we dread: the rush-hour. it got pretty packed by outram park, where graeme, deyun and dawn got off. thankfully i found a seat! by city hall, it was completely filled up. i slept all the way to tampines.

i took the service 293 home. this time, i wasn't spared-i was squashed at the side of the bus. and it was so for 10mins. D: which now reiterates why i hate rush hours, as do everbody else.

~ok. time for me to sleep now...nights all!

anw after school me, graeme, sean, deyun (adam the superstar =p) and justin went to the kallang leisure theatre to ice-skate.

balancing on ice with two narrow blades isn't easy ok? though i skated b4 (like erm, 4 years ago? @.@) i've kinda completely lost all my 'skills' (if i had any to begin with =p)

took me some time, and a couple of falls, and a change in skates, before i gained enough confidence to skate quickly...least enough to keep up with graeme and sean.

well skated for 2 whole hours...thn off to home we went (sean ate lunch 1st though).

ok will now blog about the camp. as promised and requested.

monday
--------------
got up early. tampines isn't near dover to begin with.
rode a taxi to eunos, then met shirong there. then mrt-ed to dover. wasn't late thankfully.
we later split (he's in same course, but class 1A07). four people (xiu e, deyun, sean, graeme, though i didn't know them at the time) were already there. anw it took another half hour for the whole class to appear.
thus started the laptop tutorial and eliser tour. and honestly, it's very dry -.-
skip!
lunch was later, and omg it was so cramped! -.- had western there.
then went to the tutorial room for ice-breaking.
KC (my facilitator), upon watching the other class play these games, openly declared:
"...i've always wanted to abolish such stupid games...since i'm facil now, i HEARBY ABOLISH ICE-BREAKING GAMES!!!" so funny, that joker =x
so we introduced ourselves (typical), and thn did the '1st impressions' activity.
LOL so many gamers and superstars -.-
thn they describe me as rich, pampered =.="
xiu e wanted to call me 'boss face', thn end up being misinterpreted as 'balls face'!! ROFLOLMAO! "=.="
ok thn finish and went home.

tuesday

went on my own this time. met at convention centre this time.
started with talks by the principal and school director. okok =)
thn went for station games.
FIRST trust fall. we form links with arms thn the girls fall onto the arms (thus trust)
NEXT chair race. we lost. no forfeit! =DD
LAST is one where you have to get past lines of pple and capture the flag. we lost. miserably.
thn met back to continue intro. deyun superstar leh! adam something...heh.
thn went home. again.
shi rong dislocated his shoulder! =O could see the bone jutting out. *gasp*

wednesday

shortest day.
went to mlt10 again...thn the lecturers were talking about experiences...WANNA GO JAPAN CREDIT EXCHANGE!!! =p
go play games later...
1st played stocks game. needa tikam-tikam (wild guess) the prices of diff stocks. and we got all correct O.o
thn theres the hangman and some ball game....forgot the details.
when we got 3rd, KC was like crying out "they cheat, get 2nd, we play fair, get 3rd!" LOL
then went back. collected tin cans and stickers and shirts for flag day.

thursday

FLAG DAY.
was slightly late (overslept =x)
but alot of pple were later thn i was =)
started off with taiko. thn off we go! walked to buona vista with the class, then holland v.
was debating whether we wanted breakfast. and i gave up. the guys left me behind (they went to vivo) so i was left behind in holland v.
collected abit there. thn went to the coffee bean to break. sean and deyun (superstar) met me there. explored holland v and its surroundings. had really good food. collected more $$ on the way. explored all the way back to sp. =p
collected $11.35!
also needa learn more about chuck norris! (inside joke)
bought the books. thn went home.
suppose to have a welcome party, but was lazy to wait 2 hrs for it.
back to where i am.~
